Our Staff

Dr. Ruthie Ruan

Dr. Ruan received her medical degree in China in 1990, and completed her post-graduate training in ophthalmology in 1993. She then served as a staff ophthalmologist at the prestigious Beijing Eye Institute in China, and later as an eye researcher at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, Boston, MA, in 2005. Dr. Ruan is now a licensed optometric physician in Oklahoma.

Dr. Ruan was a recipient of numerous awards, which include a travel award from the Japan Ophthalmologist Association for clinical training in Tokyo, Japan, a fellowship award from the American Heart Association, a travel award from the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience for her achievements in eye research, and membership of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity. Dr. Ruan is a member of American Optometric Association and a member of AOA contact lens and cornea section.

Dr. Ruan has years of experience diagnosing and treating vision and eye health problems. Her areas of expertise are management of age related eye diseases and vision problems, environmental such as school, work or computer related vision problems, and sports vision. Dr. Ruan fits all types of contact lens. She has many publications and presentations in the eye and vision journals and conferences.

Mrs. Delena Jackson

Delena is our Senior Living Care Consultant. She works as a liason between our office and the senior living centers that Dr. Ruan visits. She also represents our office at various Health and Vision fairs.

Ms. Thena Taylor

Thena is our Senior Services Care Coordinator and has a combined total of 25 years of experience in the optical field. She has worked for many prominent optometrists and ophthalmologists here in Oklahoma. Thena loves working with patients and loves working in the optical field. Thena is currently an optician/certified vision screener at the Circle of Life Eyecare Center.

Ms. Shanna Rutz

Shanna is an Office Administrative Assistant and Ophthalmic Technician for the office. She is currently attending Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City seeking a nursing degree. Shanna helps organize and operate our senior vision services while taking on numerous office duties as well.

Mr. John Basgall

John started with our office as an Ophthalmic Technician in October 2008. He left the office to further his career as a Firefighter with the City of Edmond, but still helps out part time. Thanks John, we really appreciate you!

Mr. Josh Wayland

Josh currently serves as the Clinical Coordinator at Circle of Life Eye Care Center. He helps organize and operate the senior vision services for Dr. Ruan, while also participating in office as a technician. Josh received a BBA in Marketing Management from Oklahoma Christian University in 2009.

Ms. Thien Do

Thien practices as an Opthalmic Technician for the office while finishing her final year of her undergraduate in Pre-Optometry at Oklahoma City University. Thien plans to attend optometry school in the fall.

Ms. Amber Dahl

Amber currently serves as an Opthalmic Assistant for the office. She assists at the front desk with scheduling and insurance while additionally working as a technician with patients. Amber also helps out with our senior vision services.

Ms. Megan Motes

Megan serves as an Opthalmic Assistant for Circle of Life Eye Care Center. She runs many of our front office duties including checkin and checkout, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling.
